Sunflower Seed Bread

11 Oct

Zak made this delicious bread that goes well with butter, jam, cheese, avocado, or any other topping you can imagine.  Fluffy and flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness and a satisfying crunch from the sunflower seeds, this bread is absolutely perfect.

Sunflower Seed Bread

1 cup 1% milk

2 1/4 tbs. vegetable oil

2 1/4 tbs. sugar

3/4 tsp. salt

3 cups bread flour

2 tsp. yeast

1 cup sunflower seeds, divided

1 egg, beaten

Combine all ingredients, reserving 1/2 cup sunflower seeds, in a bread machine.  Set the machine on the “Dough” cycle and allow to run.  When cycle is almost complete, turn your oven to “warm” and spray a bread pan with non-stick cooking spray.  Remove the dough from the bread machine and place in a bread pan.  Turn oven off and set bread in oven for one hour and allow to rise.  Remove bread from oven and heat oven to 350º.  Brush the outside of the loaf with the egg and top with the remaining half cup of sunflower seeds.  Bake the bread for 30 minutes.  Remove from oven and let cool before removing from pan.
